AMD’s Ryzen Launch Date and Pricing revealed, and benchmarks!

AMD has just released some brand new information on the upcoming Ryzen line of CPU’s, and they are quite impressive.

So what information did AMD release?

The information that AMD has released is all about three of the brand new Ryzen CPU’s, the AMD R7 1800x, the R7 1700X, and the AMD R7 1700. They are going to be high end CPU’s, with a price ranging from $300 to $500. They are also going to be released on March 2nd.

AMD R7 1800X: High-end Flagship for only $500

As you can see below, the AMD R7 1800X is one best of a processor. It will out perform the much more expensive i7 6900K, at least in Cinebench R15.

Even better, it comes in at a price of $500- which is a massive under cut to the i7 6900k.

AMD R7 1700X: Middle-high End Processor that packs a punch

The AMD R7 1700X is going to come in at $400, putting it right between the current Intel offerings in terms of price (the 7700K and the 6800K). At this price it sits firmly in the middle-upper end of the market and offers some pretty impressive performance for the money, based on the tests that AMD has shown off.

If this performance holds true (which it should, Cinebench from my experience is good at indicated overall performance), then AMD has one impressive CPU for the price. It is also a good middle ground between the flagship $500 R7 1800X, and the lower-end R7 1700, which is going to be at $329.

AMD’s R7 1700: Desktop i7 competitor, with double the cores, and significantly more performance

The AMD R7 1700 is sitting right at the $330 mark where intel’s highest end quad cores usually do. But, the 1700 is an 8-core, 16 thread CPU for the same price. The performance is also impressive, with AMD having tested it at 46% faster than the i7 7700k.

Conclusion

The upcoming Ryzen CPUs looks like they are going to out perform most Intel CPU’s, and for much cheaper. This means that if it performs this well in every day tasks, gaming, and so on- there will no longer be a reason to really buy a lot of the Intel CPUs. With that being said, you shoudl probably wait for third party benchmarks to see just how good Ryzen really is. I am looking forward to launch to see how it goes, how about you?
